Festival de Cannes Is Over: Time To Watch Award Winners

May 24, 2016

The entire attention of cinema lovers for the past weeks has been directed towards the cozy resort on the Mediterranean Sea. Festival de Cannes probably might be called the most elegant cinematography event in the world. And one of the most prestigious.

This year the British filmmaker Ken Loach and his I, Daniel Blake took the Palme d'or. Ken Loach is not a newcomer at the Festival. In 2006 he's already won his first Palme d'or with The Wind That Shakes the Barley.

I, Daniel Blake is a story of a middle-aged widower living in UK who can't work or get benefits after a near-fatal heart attack. The movie shows a messy, ugly world of poverty with an intention of making us see that it really is happening in a prosperous nation, too.
