We can't tell that May offers an abundant selection of both genres, however, the ones that reach big screens this month are definitely worthy your attention. So check them out!

 

HORROR

 

GEHENNA: WHERE DEATH LIVES

Plot Synopsis: The pristine island of Saipan is backdrop to a terrifying tale of curiosity, secrets, ancient curses, strange dolls, and inner demons. Five people enter a hidden bunker from WW2, and realize it's way more than a bunker. Some fates are much worse than death.  

 

 

THE HOLLOW CHILD

Plot Synopsis: Highly intelligent and malicious creatures known as The Hollow Ones live in the Woods and entice children with their hypnotic folklore music. Samantha, a young foster teen must fight to expose these dangerous supernatural impostors and save her younger sister who has been taken, otherwise her soul will be lost forever.

Plot Synopsis: An eccentric British con-artist couple, Harriet (Uma Thurman) and Peter Fox (Tim Roth), on the run from a notorious gangster, Ivanka (Maggie Q), flee to Los Angeles and attempt a jewel theft with unforeseen complications, life or death consequences, and hilarious results. The couple turns to a former associate (Stephen Fry) for help, but he secretly sells their whereabouts.

 

 

LIFE OF THE PARTY

Plot Synopsis: After dropping their daughter Maddie (Molly Gordon) off for her last year of college, a cheapskate husband announces to his wife Deanna (Melissa McCarthy) that he wants a divorce to marry the neighborhood realtor and take the house and all their assets. Blindsided and with nowhere to go, Deanna decides to go back to college to get her degree… with her daughter!

 

 

HOW TO TALK TO GIRLS AT PARTIES

Plot Synopsis: Enn (Alex Sharp) is a shy suburban London teenager in 1977, sneaking out with his best friends to after-hours punk parties. One night they stumble upon a bizarre gathering of sexy teenagers who seem like they are from another planet. In fact, they are from another planet, visiting Earth to complete a mysterious rite of passage. That doesn't stop Enn from falling madly in love with Zan (Elle Fanning), a beautiful and rebellious alien teenager who, despite her allegiance to her strange colony, is fascinated by Enn. Together they embark on a delirious adventure through the kinetic punk rock world of 1970s London, inadvertently setting off a series of events that will lead to the ultimate showdown of punks vs. aliens, and test the limits of how far each of them will go for true love.
