A Handful of February Drama Before Spring

Aren't sure about you but we enjoy first spring touches on the other side of our windows. Not only splendid rays of sun, homogeneous blue skies but also typical forerunners of this gentle time of the year - violet and yellow saffrons spread across our lawn. The mood reminds of a goodhearted movie during which you catch yourself involuntary smiling with your thoughts wandering in some higher dimensions. Well, time to shake off the spell - February is still able to put some drama into a smooth transition towards so much desired spring. Or at least bring it into cinema theatres. So be ready to see the following:

Plot Synopsis: A teenager’s quest to launch Norwegian Black Metal in Oslo in the 1980s results in a very violent outcome. The film tells the true story of True Norwegian Black Metal and its most notorious practitioners - a group of young men with a flair for publicity, church-burning and murder: MAYHEM.

Plot Synopsis: Shmuel (Géza Röhrig), a Hasidic cantor in Upstate New York, distraught by the untimely death of his wife, struggles to find religious solace, while secretly obsessing over how her body will decay. As a clandestine partnership develops with Albert (Matthew Broderick), a local community college biology professor, the two embark on a darkly comic and increasingly literal undertaking into the underworld.

Plot Synopsis: Three desperate souls must fight their way out of a dead-end world in this bracing, gut-punching glimpse into America’s dark underbelly. Earl (Jamie Bell) is a struggling ex-marine and father determined to make a better life for his family - no matter what it takes. Angus (Frank Grillo) is a violent, unhinged drug dealer who leaves a trail of death and destruction in his wake. And Delia (Margaret Qualley) is a haunted woman who will do anything to escape a life of crime she can no longer bear. In their kill-or-be-killed world, all roads lead to the Donnybrook: an illicit backwoods cage match where bare-knuckled fighters brawl for a shot at a $100,000 prize. It’s either a last-ditch chance at redemption - or a death sentence.

Plot Synopsis: An unlikely friendship between two misfit neighbors becomes an unexpectedly emotional journey when the younger man is diagnosed with terminal cancer.

SOMETIMES ALWAYS NEVER
