2017 National Book Awards Cut Down To The Ten Book Longlists


With the end of the year galloping towards us in a steady pace, the most acknowledged award processes in literature and cinematography start their modus operandi. The Man Booker Prize 2017 has already announced its shortlist, Emmy just shared its celebrating moments with many others yet to come. Hence 2017 National Book Awards is also not an exception.

The mission of the National Book Foundation and the National Book Awards is to celebrate the best of American literature, to expand its audience, and to enhance the cultural value of great writing in America. Held for the first time in 1960, after more than sixty years since its creation, the National Book Awards continues to recognize the best of American literature, raise the cultural appreciation of great writing, promote the enduring value of reading, and advance the careers of established and emerging writers.

The longlist of 10 novels has already been announced and waiting till October 4 to hear the finalists. Have a look at the list to get acquainted with the authors and the titles:

Winners are expected to be announced at the Award Ceremony on November 15. Last year the National Book Award for fiction was won by Colson Whitehead for his novel The Underground Railroad.
