Last Call For November Comedy And Horror


While the majority enjoy the well-advertised Bohemian Rhapsody and Fantastic Beasts 2, there's little left for comedy and horror. These are not the kings and queens of cinematographic November but there's no reason to underestimate their entertaining value. Anyway, the last week of gloomy November might easily turn into a laugh or a shriek...

COMEDY

Plot Synopsis: A satire set in the world of competitive battle rap,it is the story of Adam Merkin (Calum Worthy), a progressive grad student who becomes an accidental battle rapper after encountering Behn Grym (Jackie Long), a respected icon in the merciless sub-culture of poetic personal insults. As Adam makes his politically-incorrect climb up the ranks, he risks alienating his father, a renowned writer and tenured professor at Adam's university, along with his skeptical girlfriend Maya, and all of his academic friends. His success breeds outrage however; Adam soon faces growing backlash on campus and the consequences of his controversial talent.

Plot Synopsis: Trying to get back on her feet, wild child Tanya (Tiffany Haddish) looks to her buttoned-up, by the book sister Danica (Tika Sumpter) to help her get back on track. As these polar opposites collide - with hilarious and sometimes disastrous results - Tanya discovers that Danica's picture-perfect life - including her mysterious boyfriend - may not be what it seems.

Plot Synopsis: When Pete (Mark Wahlberg) and Ellie (Rose Byrne) decide to start a family, they stumble into the world of foster care adoption. They hope to take in one small child but when they meet three siblings, including a rebellious 15 year old girl (Isabela Moner), they find themselves speeding from zero to three kids overnight. Now, Pete and Ellie must hilariously try to learn the ropes of instant parenthood in the hopes of becoming a family.

Plot Synopsis: When a down-to-earth Chicago baker and a soon-to-be princess discover they look like twins, they hatch a Christmastime plan to trade places.

Plot Synopsis: When Tony Lip (Viggo Mortensen), a bouncer from an Italian-American neighborhood in the Bronx, is hired to drive Dr. Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali), a world-class Black pianist, on a concert tour from Manhattan to the Deep South, they must rely on ‘The Green Book' to guide them to the few establishments that were then safe for African-Americans. Confronted with racism, danger - as well as unexpected humanity and humor - they are forced to set aside differences to survive and thrive on the journey of a lifetime.

Plot Synopsis: A comedy in the vein of Working Girl and Maid In Manhattan. Jennifer Lopez stars as Maya, a 40-year-old woman struggling with frustrations from unfulfilled dreams. Until, that is, she gets the chance to prove to Madison Avenue that street smarts are as valuable as book smarts, and that it is never too late for a Second Act.

Plot Synopsis: Ageing hitman Leslie (Tom Wilkinson), a one-man euthanasia clinic with a good heart but a shaky hand, is not so lucky. His new boss at The Guild of Assassins is all about quotas and Leslie's been reduced to searching suicide hotspots for potential clients to help him meet targets. It's a last-ditch attempt to delay his enforced retirement for another year. Following a chance encounter on a bridge, William (Aneurin Barnard) realizes he could use some professional help. With so many attempts and zero success, it's obvious an experienced cold-blooded killer is exactly what William needs. After browsing through Leslie's brochure ‘Your Death…Your Way' William settles on ‘quick and painless'. It's not exactly the hero's death he'd always dreamt of but it's all he can afford. With the contract signed, and the promise from Leslie of ‘no garrotting', William waits for the inevitable...

HORROR

Plot Synopsis: American ballerina Susie (Dakota Johnson) arrives at a prestigious dance Academy in Berlin right when a student named Patricia (Chloë Grace Moretz) disappears mysteriously. Classes continue under the watchful eye of the academy's art director, Madame Blanc (Tilda Swinton). Following bloody murders that take place at the Academy one after another, it doesn't take long for Susie to realize that a dark secret is behind these. But how could Susie ever know that the answer to this secret is supernatural?

Plot Synopsis: The film follows Alice (Madeline Brewer), an ambitious camgirl, who wakes up one day to discover she's been replaced on her show with an exact replica of herself. As this copy begins to push the boundaries of Alice's internet identity, the control that Alice has over her life, and the men in it, vanishes. While she struggles to regain what she's lost, she slowly finds herself drawn back to her show and to the mysterious person who has taken her place.

Plot Synopsis: Coming to terms with the explanation of his mother's untimely death, Alex (Frank Dillane) turns to spiritual contact after the relationship with his father breaks down. As a student of metaphysics, Alex learns of the “scientific” premise of astral projection - the ability to project your spirit into an unseen spatial dimension. Attempting to astral project, Alex becomes plagued by shadow spirits - malevolent entities vying to enter his body to access our world. Alex soon learns that he is not the only member of his family to have been besieged by such beings, as his mother's dark past is brought to his attention.

Plot Synopsis: A zombie apocalypse threatens the sleepy town of Little Haven – at Christmas – forcing Anna (Ella Hunt) and her friends to fight, slash and sing their way to survival, facing the undead in a desperate race to reach their loved ones. But they soon discover that no one is safe in this new world, and with civilization falling apart around them, the only people they can truly rely on are each other…
