Festival de Cannes Announces Its Official Selection 2019

And the game is on. Not that one of the thrones but of the 72nd Festival de Cannes, as today it announced its official selection for Competition, Un Certain Regard, Out of Competition, Midnight Screenings and Special Screenings.
Of course, the main focus is on the international Competition entered by 19 films from all over the world. Four of them are directed by women, the list also features well-known directors, such as Pedro Almódovar, Terrence Malick, Ken Loach, Céline Sciamma, Xavier Dolan and Bong Joon-ho. Jim Jarmusch's The Dead Don't Die will open the festival.

During the announcement it was also mentioned that Quentin Tarantino’s new film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is not ready, but could potentially still make the line-up.

The festival will take place on May 14-25. Mexican director Alejandro González Inárritu is to be the president of the Jury. He will succeed Cate Blanchett who chaired the Jury last year, which awarded the Palme d'or to Shoplifters by Japanese director Kore-eda Hirokazu.
