Five Selected Titles Compete For 2020 National Book Award For Fiction

2020 National Book Awards are one step closer to the final selection. Five candidates to win this year's Award for fiction were selected from the longlist and will have to wait till November 18 when the winner will be announced.

The following books were selected to the final:

The Secret Lives of Church Ladies by Deesha Philyaw

A Children's Book by Lydia Millet

Leave The World Behind by Rumaan Alam

Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart

Interior Chinatown by Charles Yu

The National Book Awards were established in 1950 to celebrate the best writing in America. The Awards currently honor the best Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry, Translated Literature, and Young People’s Literature published each year. No one else, not even the Foundation staff, learns who the Winners are until they are announced at the Ceremony that evening.
