Today the Swedish Academy has announced the Nobel Prize in Literature for 2025, which was awarded to a Hungarian novelist László Krasznahorkai, "for his compelling and visionary oeuvre that, in the midst of apocalyptic terror, reaffirms the power of art."

Krasznahorkai is recognized for his dystopian novels, which have garnered multiple awards, such as the National Book Award for Translated Literature in 2019 and the Man Booker International Prize in 2015. Several of his works, including the novels Satantango and The Melancholy of Resistance, have been turned into feature films.

Last year the Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to Han Kang, the South Korean author best known for The Vegetarian.
