The Shortlist of Booker Prize 2022 Announced
September 6 is the date when the Booker Prize 2022 shortlist is announced. The judges have already circled out 13 novels for the longlist, which is the basis for the narrowing down until October 17 presents the winner.
According to the Chair of judges Neil MacGregor: "The list offers story, fable and parable, fantasy, mystery, meditation and thriller." The longlist features the youngest (20-year-old Leila Mottley) and oldest author (Alan Garner, who will celebrate his 88th birthday on the night of the winner ceremony) ever to be longlisted. It also includes the shortest book recognized in the prize’s history - Claire Keegan’s Small Things Like These (116 pages): the shortest to win was Offshore by Penelope Fitzgerald (1979) at 132 pages.

The Booker Prize is awarded to what is, in the opinion of the judges, the best sustained work of fiction written in English and published in the UK and Ireland.
