The 67th Berlinale's Golden Bear Leaves For Hungary

Do you know in which European city bears were making their nocturnal rounds, visiting some typical spots from mid-January 2017? Well, their visiting time ended yesterday together with the award ceremony of the 67th Berlin International Film Festival. A week before Oscars the artistic achievements of rather different filmmakers were honoured in a variety of categories, providing us with yet another list of movies to watch.

The most important is an international film category called Competition, as it features international premiers, stars and talents. This year the Golden Bear for Best Film was awarded to On Body and Soul by Hungarian director Ildikó Enyedi. The film tells an unusual love story of two slaughterhouse employees.

The other front-runner of the festival The Other Side of Hope by Finnish director Aki Kaurismäk, a tale of a Syrian refugee seeking an asylum in Finland, won Silver Bear for Best Director.

Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize was awarded to Félicité by Alain Gomis, realistically portraying a singer in the Democratic Republic of Congo while Silver Bear Alfred Bauer Prize for a feature film that opens new perspectives has gone to a murder mystery Spoor by Agnieszka Holland.

Kim Minhee (On the Beach at Night Alone by Hong Sangsoo) received the Silver Bear for Best Actress and Georg Friedrich (Bright Nights by Thomas Arslan) - the Silver Bear for Best Actor.
